Six Best Cleaning Hacks to Cut the Time You Spend Cleaning

Not everybody enjoys cleaning, which is perfectly understandable, given that it can be such a drag. It doesn’t help that it takes hours to complete cleaning a space.

Now, there’s no getting around cleaning your home. It’s a requirement to keep your space tidy and free of germs. What you can do is consider cleaning hacks that can cut the hours you spend house cleaning.

See five cleaning hacks below.

1. Use Lemons to Deodorize the Garbage Disposal

For some reason, food particles and dirt tend to find their way into the spaces of the garbage disposal. At some point, they start to smell.

To get rid of the foul odor and freshen the disposal, cut some lemons and drop them in. Let them sit for 10 minutes, then run some hot water to flush them out.

2. Steam Clean Your Microwave with Lemon Oil

The microwave tends to get dirty and smelly over time. Instead of spending hours cleaning the microwave and all its parts, grab some lemons, lemon oil, and vinegar.

Put the lemon oil in a bowl and microwave it for 15 seconds to make it boil. Turn off the microwave and pour a few drops of the hot lemon oil into the corners of the microwave. Let it sit overnight. The following day, wipe the microwave clean with a paper towel and a few drops of vinegar.

3. Use Shaving Cream to Clean Grout

The grout lines in your bathroom are prone to mildew and dirt, making them an absolute pain to clean.

The best way to clean them is with a grout brush and a little shaving cream. Apply the shaving cream, then scrub the grout lines with the brush. Wipe off the residue with a clean, damp cloth.

4. Clean the Toilet with Baking Soda and Vinegar

Cleaning the toilet is a huge pain. You have to scrub, clean, and disinfect the toilet using harsh chemicals. It can take hours to complete.

To make cleaning the toilet a breeze, mix one cup of baking soda, one cup of vinegar, and a few drops of essential oils. Use this mixture and a toilet brush to scrub the toilet bowl. Afterward, wipe the bowl clean with a wet rag.

5. Use a Garbage Can Liner to Protect Your Floor

Every time you empty the trash, you risk dropping the bag or can on the floor and spilling the contents. This can leave your floor dirty and smelly.

To prevent this from happening, use a trash can liner. The liner will protect your floor from spills and make cleaning up easier.

6. Get Stains Out with Salt and Rubbing Alcohol

If you have had a spill, you know there’s no quick and easy way to get stains out. You can spend hours scrubbing the spill, but you may not get rid of it.

To remove stains quicker and easier, grab some salt, rubbing alcohol, and dish soap. Sprinkle salt on the stain. Pour a few drops of rubbing alcohol and a few drops of dish soap on the salt. Use a clean rag to scrub the area, then wipe the area clean.
